It’s amazing what a good review can do for a band. When Pitchfork Media awarded Wavves third album King of the Beach an 8.4, this previously obscure noise pop band was brought to the attention of hip young things around the world. Wavves must be praising the gods of the internet now; they’ve got almost 100,000 likes on Facebook, they get to tour the globe... And last night Aucklanders at the Kings Arms got to see what all the fuss was about. |

When the poster outside the door announces the comedian as a ‘comedy god’, you know you’re going to leave the show either sorely disappointed, or with a jaw aching from laughter. Thankfully, Jason Byrne overwhelmingly delivered the latter last night. |

Thankfully the lead singer from Whitesnake may or may not have had an illegitimate son. And he may or may not be the front man of Dead Cat Bounce. And if the name doesn’t destroy any illusion of a bunch of clean-cut talent show rejects, then their songs certainly will... |
