NZ COMEDY FESTIVAL: STEPHEN K AMOS, SHARING A GOOD SNORT WITH MR BLOGGS

Comedy can be a real riot if you let the laughter take over, and there’s nothing more enjoyable than sharing a good snort with Mr Bloggs in the seat next to you.

Stephen K Amos has a simple agenda: laughter. And with enough credible swag and charm to warm the behinds of even those dull-as-sawdust types, he is one man you just can’t miss.

He had that ticked off his clipboard from the moment he sauntered onto Sky City’s stage on Saturday night. Making light of being the only black man to perform in the NZ International Comedy Festival this year, he relishes in taking the mickey out of his audience, and does so with enough tease to keep you on your toes.

Aside from a few too many stabs at our mates across the ditch, he offers a plethora of side-splitting commentary on ethnic anecdotes from his Nigerian – English history to claiming his right as the Last King of Scotland. From the front row back he closed the show to chortles a-plenty and overall, this highly accomplished comedian served up a damn fine spread.
