NZ COMEDY FESTIVAL: CONSTANTINOPLE

Constantinople: The Slappiest Stick

How do you find a city? You call its name. What is the international symbol of an orgy? Grapes. Can a horse be transgender? Yes. And why not, when these questions are thrown around in Constantinople. New Zealand’s gobsmackingly brilliant answer to Monty Python.

Back in Auckland on its farewell leg of a global tour, Constantinople proves to have lost no steam. The frolicsome duo Barnie Duncan and Trygve Wakenshaw delivered an absolutely gut-busting and crowd raising performance. They transform seemingly inconsequential props like a wooden pepper grinder and a grey tie into a multitude of uplifting and ever-so charming skits.

There’s nothing wrong with it. Constantinople earns its stripes. I give it 10 out of 10 and request an encore tour.
